about

I'm Morgan, a career social worker and a hobbyist flutist. Thank you for being here! A little about me:

I have played the flute for 10+ years cumulatively after starting my musical journey with piano at age 8 and flute at age 11. Though beginning my undergraduate as a music education major, I finished my studies with a degree in social work and now have my master of science in social work from Columbia University. After a roughly 9-year hiatus, I picked the flute back up again in spring of 2022 and haven't looked back since!
I currently work full-time as a social worker but enjoy taking private flute lessons, playing with my local concert band, and performing in the Richmond area as much as possible. Music and music education have always been great passions of mine and I am so happy to be further exploring my interest in all things flute and classical music.
With the Resonance blog, I hope to write about topics around music from the perspective of someone not in a music-related career field and as someone who sees the vast overlap between music and mental health and wellbeing.

Some of my other hobbies include traveling, reading, creative projects/endeavors, film photography, and learning about new topics so you can also expect to see some of these subjects come up in Resonance.

Welcome! I'm very happy you are here.
